1. Minutes of the Last Meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were agreed as a true and accurate record.
2. Tower Hamlets Citizen
Yasmin Aktar outlined to the committee current projects being organised by Tower Hamlets Citizens with a particular focus on housing and the Whitechapel Vision/proposed Sainsbury Development.
Shared concerns about the proposed Sainsbury development concerns:
Height of blocks
Proportion of social housing
Potential for investment properties which are unoccupied
It was agreed that the two organisations maintain contact on these issues and that Nozrul Mustafa attend relevant Tower Hamlets Citizens meetings where possible.
3. Housing Matters
It was noted that no recent problems with water supply had been reported. However, it was agreed that the issue of inadequate communal hot water needed to be revisited.
There remain problems with the security of pram shed and it was suggested that an effort is made to promote empty pam sheds to residents to increase legitimate usage.
Concerns were raised again about waste collection and management on the estate including the high incidence of fly-tipping and the new siting of recycling facilities further away from many blocks.
It was reported that the cycle shed near Collingwood House was not currently secure and needed repairing.
4. Anti-Social Behaviour
Committee members raised recent ASB associated with fireworks and a reported increase in noise on a regular basis around the bottom of Orion House.
It was reported that the next Collingwood Estate Police Liaison Meeting will be on 18th January.
5. Neighbourhood Action Plan
A discussion took place regarding work undertaken as part of the Neighbourhood Action Plan including bin enclosures, lighting improvement and some housing works. It was agreed that Chris Basford be invited to the January meeting of the Committee to address the issues of the Neighbourhood Action Plan.
6. Annual General Meeting
Mayor John Biggs has agreed to speak at the TRA AGM which has now been scheduled for 14:00 on the afternoon of 14th November and will address the subject of the Whitechapel Masterplan. Ian Lawson will arrange for refreshments. Arrangements had been made for leafleting every property in advance of the meeting and members agreed to display posters in and around their blocks.
7. Any Other Business
The meeting ended at 20:30.
Date of next meeting: 18:30 on Monday December 14th 2015
